Welcome to Local Voices
When I graduated college I faced some hard decisions for a 20 year old that had moved to a new country. I wanted to be a journalist, but I wanted to stay in Canada more than anything else.
Silly as it was, I became fascinated by the city of London, Ontario, and how people seem to build community groups and passion projects everywhere I look.
So I hung my microphone, got a job in the food industry, and climbed the ladder everywhere I went. That way, I brought in new ideas, incorporated media strategies, and went to events I loved.
After eight years of doing that, I’ve decided it’s time to get the microphone out and bring you this idea that has been simmering since I was in college.
Local Voices is the brainchild of a journalism alumna who learned a lot about people and digital marketing skills on the fly.
My main goal is to show the people everything that brought me to where I am, to understand that there are communities out there that have a special place for you, and to disproof the myth that there’s nothing to do in London.
So, if you read all that, I’m guessing you are in for this ride - I saved you a seat, and we are heading out now.
Sincerely,
Enith (Nini) Linares
